Healthcare
Close to Home
Matters

Every day, people in our community depend on Pagosa Springs Medical Center for emergency care, ambulance services, cancer treatment, surgery, diagnostic services, family medicine/primary care, physical therapy, and compassionate care close to home.

Your generosity helps make that possible.

The Pagosa Springs Medical Center Foundation connects people who care deeply about our community with opportunities to strengthen local healthcare, today and for generations to come.

Help Us Make the PSMC Downtown EMS Station a Reality!

Join us in the renovation of the PSMC Downtown EMS Station at 302 San Juan Street and help create a second, fully operational PSMC EMS station in downtown Pagosa Springs. Your support will help create a safe, functional home for 24/7 EMS crew and ambulance, positioning emergency response closer to downtown and the east side of our community.

When an emergency happens, minutes matter.

This station will help PSMC EMS respond more efficiently despite traffic, winter weather, busy community events, and the challenges of serving a large rural area.

Together, we can help ensure our EMS professionals have the facilities and resources they need to be ready when our community needs them most.

Building Healthcare Together Since 1959

The Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation, doing business as the Pagosa Springs Medical Center Foundation, has been part of the story of healthcare in Pagosa Springs for more than 65 years.

The Foundation was incorporated in 1959 with a goal that was both ambitious and simple: bring local medical care to Pagosa Springs.

That community commitment helped establish the Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Clinic downtown and, over the decades, helped make possible expanded facilities, innovative technology and ultimately Pagosa Springs Medical Center.

The buildings and technology have changed tremendously since 1959.

The idea behind them has not:  Neighbors helping neighbors have access to excellent healthcare close to home.

PSMC Remains Open and Serving Our Community During Historic Flooding

Like so many throughout the greater Pagosa Springs community, Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) and our staff have been impacted by the severe flooding.

Some of our hospital and ambulance/EMS staff have been unable to report to work because flooding and road closures have prevented travel from Bayfield, Ignacio, Arboles, Durango, and communities on the other side of Wolf Creek Pass. In addition, limited air transportation and challenging road conditions have prevented some patients from being transferred to larger hospitals, requiring PSMC to continue providing their care locally.

Despite these extraordinary challenges, PSMC remains open and continues to provide hospital and ambulance services to our community. Our dedicated and skilled staff are working tirelessly to ensure continuity of patient care. PSMC ambulances also remain staffed and ready to respond to emergencies throughout our 1,800-square-mile service area, subject to road access and safety conditions.

We are deeply grateful to the Archuleta County Emergency Management team and all the first responders, public employees, and community members working to address this unprecedented flooding. We appreciate the emergency declarations and the efforts of the Town, County, and State to secure additional resources, including assistance from the National Guard. We also appreciate the support of regional hospitals in Durango and Cortez for their offers of help.

A special thank you to Sheriff Mike LeRoux for his leadership and support in helping PSMC maintain continuity of our hospital and ambulance services during this challenging time.

To our PSMC staff who continue to serve our patients under difficult circumstances, thank you. Your dedication to our community is extraordinary.

We are proud to serve this community, especially when our neighbors need us most.

We will get through this together.
