The PSMC Foundation is a tax-exempt 501C(3) nonprofit that is dedicated to supporting the Pagosa Springs Medical Center in its efforts to advance medical and ambulance services. Donations of $250 or more qualify for a twenty-five percent Colorado state tax credit.<\/p>\n<p>Some past generous donations to the Foundation have supported PSMC with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>$1 million from community donors to build the original hospital building that opened in 2008<\/li>\n<li>$397,481 to acquire, in 2014, 2D mammography machine and mammography suite<\/li>\n<li>$4 million in donations and grants to build PSMC\u2019s Outpatient wing that opened in 2017<\/li>\n<li>$282,035 donated towards 2019 upgrades of Heating, Ventilation and air conditioning to support the expansion of oncology and surgery<\/li>\n<li>In 2020-2021, donors contributed lunches, hand-made masks, and pandemic supplies to support PSMC employee morale<\/li>\n<li>$150,000 to assist, in 2021, with the MRI building installation<\/li>\n<li>$595,705 in donations to purchase, in 2022, a 3D mammography machine and mammography suite upgrade; and $29,450 to purchase, in 2022, surgical equipment<\/li>\n<li>$650,000 in 2023 and 2024 for the renovation of the Medical Wellness Building<\/li>\n<li>$175,000 for surgical Xray equipment (C-arm)<\/li>\n<li>Art and donations for art to make the medical center experience more pleasant for patients\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The PSMC Foundation designates all donations into one of four categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>EMS Fund<\/u><\/strong>: Support for emergency medical services, ambulances, vehicles and equipment;<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>General Fund<\/u><\/strong>: Support for any PSMC need as determined by the PSMC Foundation Board;<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Oncology, Women\u2019s Health, Surgery Fund<\/u><\/strong>: Support for medical equipment, building, operations and software; and<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Patient Needs Fund<\/u><\/strong>: Support the needs of patients in crisis with food, lodging, prescription drugs and gas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many ways to support the PSMC Foundation, Foundation does business under the trade name Pagosa Springs Medical Center Foundation. The Foundation has been a dedicated part of the community for over 65 years. In October 1959, the Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit, with a commitment to establish a family medical practice in Pagosa Springs. Shortly after, the Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Clinic was built in downtown Pagosa Springs on San Juan Street. In 1996, the Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Center (now the Cancer Center) was built on land donated by Tom and Mary Ellen Grant.<\/p>\n<p>In 2001, PSMC Foundation achieved its Enterprise Zone designation, qualifying donations as charitable contributions for state tax purposes. Such gifts which benefit the medical center and EMS ambulance service are also eligible for an additional 25 percent Colorado State tax credit.<\/p>\n<p>After years of planning and fundraising by the community, the Pagosa Springs Medical Center\u2019s main hospital building was opened in January 2008. In 2017, PSMC added the outpatient clinic wing to include primary care and specialty services, funded in part by generous donors.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, through community donations, PSMC Foundation raised funds to purchase a state-of-the-art 3D mammography machine, which was installed in the updated mammography suite in December 2022. In 2023 and 2024, the Foundation raised funds for surgical radiology equipment and the renovation of the Medical Wellness Building located on the corner of HWY 160 and South Pagosa
