Heart Beat Ball to Benefit Pagosa Springs Medical Center

February 10th, 2012

Heart Beat Ball Pagosa SpringsBy Tari Woods

The second annual Heart Beat Ball promises to be another great success and a great night out on the town.

This year the event will be held on Saturday, February 25 at the Pagosa Lodge. The event is a fundraiser for the Pagosa Medical Center.

The Ball is a dressy affair and begins at 7pm lasting until 11pm. There will be both silent and live auctions.  There will be samplings of food “A Taste of Pagosa” offered by area restaurants from 7-9pm.

Dance to all the “oldies but goodies” and remember to bring some special requests for our DJ, “Cowboy Dusty”.

Contributions for the event are still needed and if you’d like to donate auction items or volunteer please call Tari Woods at 731-8877.  We are specifically seeking individual volunteers and local organizations such as the ladies in WIPS, The Homemakers and the Women’s Club to make 30 center pieces for our tables.  There is no particular theme.

The center pieces will be judged by attendees at the event and the first place entry will be auctioned of in the live auction and the others will have bidding sheets at each table and go to the home of the lucky high bidder.

Advance tickets are $25.00 and tickets at the door will be $30.00. Tickets may be purchased at the Bank of the San Juans, Citizens Bank at both locations, Rio Grand Savings and Loan, The Bank of Colorado, Pagosa Springs Medical Center and at the Clinic.

March 24th, 2010

A Call to Artists has gone out for the Pagosa Mountain Hospital’s and Pagosa Springs Arts Council ‘s collaborative 2009 Juried Exhibition and Silent Auction which will be held October 17-December 11.

This exhibition and its silent auction is an important step in helping build the hospital’s permanent art collection and raising the additional funds needed to complete the carving of the three dead trees in front of the hospital.

Entries are due next Saturday, October 3, for this year’s Pagosa Mountain Hospital PSAC Juried Exhibition & Silent Auction. Bring your art works, entry form, payment and CD with digital images to the Education Room of the Pagosa Mountain Clinic between 10am and 4pm.

Jurors will be Randall Davis, Buster Griggs and Kathleen Steventon. The exhibition is open to all artists 18+ residing in Archuleta County, Colorado and surrounding areas served by the Pagosa Mountain Hospital. The jurors for this exhibition are eligible to enter this juried exhibition. The jurors’ submissions, if any, will be juried by the Pagosa Mountain Hospital Art Review Committee.

The exhibition is open to artists working in the following 2D mediums: oils, water media, including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and combinations thereof, pastel, oil pastel, photography, textile and printmaking, or combinations thereof. All art work must be dry, properly framed and wired for hanging using screw eyes (no saw tooth hangers, please).

Art works intended to be hung in the patient areas must be mounted under glass; this requirement is stipulated by the Pagosa Mountain Hospital. Extremely fragile or unstable art work will not be accepted. All art work must be original in concept and execution.

Each artist may submit one to four art works that represent a cohesive body of work. Make checks payable to Pagosa Springs Arts Council. Entry fees are non-refundable. The Pagosa Springs Arts Council and Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation will split the 20 percent commission on all sales with10 percent going to each organization. The selling artists will each receive 80 percent of the Sales Price for any art work sold during the exhibition. Art works not selected for the juried exhibition can be donated by the artist to the Silent Auction; or will be returned to the artist.

All art works donated to the Silent Auction must be for sale. The artist reserves the right to set a minimum bid, but with no artist reserve, for each donated art work. 100 percent of the proceeds from all Silent auction sales will go to benefit the Pagosa Mountain Hospital ‘Tree Carving Project’.
